Simple Past & Imperfect Past and Subjunctive.

Simple Past // Pasado simple

Yesterday we watched a very interesting movie. Ayer vimos una película muy interesante.

(She / he) Didn't see her friend because she was traveling. No vio a su amiga porque estaba de viaje.

I watched the sunset from the beach. Vi el atardecer desde la playa.

Did you see the bird flying very high? ¿Viste el pájaro volando muy alto?

I saw an accident in the street. Vi un accidente en la calle.

Did you(people) see my dog playing in the garden? ¿(Ustedes) Vieron a mi perro jugando en el jardín?

Last night I watched TV for a while. Anoche vi la televisión por un rato.

Luisa saw her parents after a long time. Luisa vio a sus padres después de mucho tiempo.

I saw a sign that said "Danger". Vi un letrero que decía "Peligro".

We saw a ghost in the night or so I think. Vimos un fantasma en la noche o eso creo.

Did you see the time on the clock? ¿Viste la hora en el reloj?

I didn't see your message in time, sorry. No vi tu mensaje a tiempo, disculpa.

 Imperfect Past // Pasado imperfecto

My dad and I watched TV every day. Mi papá y yo veíamos la televisión todos los días.

I saw my family often. Veía a mi familia con frecuencia.

On weekends, I saw my friends in the park. Los fines de semana, veía a mis amigos en el parque.

Tourists watched the birds flying in the sky. Los turistas veían los pájaros volando en el cielo.

I saw cars passing by on the street. Veía los coches pasar por la calle.

Children (always) saw people walking on the sidewalk. Los niños veían a la gente caminando por la acera.

In the evenings, I “used to” watch the boats in the harbor. En las tardes, veía los barcos que estaban en el puerto.

I always saw the airplanes arriving at the airport. Siempre veía los aviones llegando al aeropuerto.

My cousins and I “used to” watch the clouds looking for shapes. Mis primos y yo veíamos las nubes buscándoles formas.

I always watched the sunsets with my wife. Siempre veía los atardeceres con mi esposa.

Imperfect Subjunctive // Subjuntivo imperfecto

 I wanted my children to see my parents more often. Deseaba que mis hijos vieran a mis padres más a menudo.

It was important for you to see the doctor. Era importante que vieras al médico.

I was hoping we would see the new movie. Esperaba que viéramos la película nueva.

I asked Miguel to see if there was anything in the fridge. Le pedí a Miguel que viera si había algo en la nevera.

I doubted he would see my friend at the party. Dudaba que viera a mi amigo en la fiesta.

Nancy told me to watch the soccer game. Me dijo Nancy que viera el partido de fútbol.

 I was glad the vet saw my dog safe and sound. Me alegré de que el veterinario viera a mi perro sano y salvo.

I was surprised that you saw a ghost. Me sorprendió que usted viera a un fantasma.

It was too bad we didn't see the sunset. Era una lástima que no viéramos la puesta de sol.

I was afraid you didn't see the spider. Tenía miedo de que no vieras la araña.

You needed to see the instructions before you started. Era necesario que vieran las instrucciones antes de comenzar.

I suggested to Tony that he see a specialist. Le sugerí a Tony que viera a un especialista.
