Simple Past + Imperfect Past & Subjunctive.

Simple Past // Pasado simple

Last night you thought about calling me, but you fell asleep. Anoche pensaste en llamarme, pero te quedaste dormida.

He thought it was Laura, his neighbor. Él pensó que era Laura, su vecina.

They thought he would be late, but he was on time. Pensaron que él llegaría tarde, pero llegó a tiempo.

We didn't think that would be so hard to do. No pensamos que eso fuera tan difícil hacerlo.

Miguél thought she would give him permission, but she told him she would not. Miguél pensó que ella le daría permiso, pero le dijo que no.

My brothers thought it was a good plan, but in the end it didn't work out. Mis hermanos pensaron que era un buen plan, pero al final no resultó.

I thought I could do it alone, but I needed help. Pensé que podría hacerlo solo, pero necesité ayuda.

 We thought you would like it, but we can change it if you didn't like it. Pensamos que te iba a gustar, pero podemos cambiarlo si no te gustó.

I thought it was true, but it was not. Pensé que era verdad, pero no lo era.

I thought he was my friend, but he betrayed me. Pensé que era mi amiga, pero me traicionó.

I thought we were going to the movies today. Pensé que iríamos al cine hoy.

Imperfect Past // Pasado imperfecto

You thought about her all the time, even when you weren't with her. Pensabas en ella siempre, incluso cuando no estabas con ella.

I thought he was happy, but in reality he was a sad man. Pensaba que él era feliz, pero en realidad era un hombre triste.

As children we thought we would never find love, but we were wrong. De niños pensábamos que nunca encontraríamos el amor, pero nos equivocamos.

I thought it was difficult to study, but with effort I made it. Pensaba que era difícil estudiar, pero con esfuerzo lo logré.

I thought it was impossible to be on time, but I made it. Pensaba que era imposible llegar a tiempo, pero lo logré.

Manuela thought her job would be easier. Manuela pensaba que su trabajo sería más fácil.

Imperfect Subjunctive // Subjuntivo imperfecto

No quería que pensaras que estaba enojado. I didn't want you to think I was angry.

It was important for us to think carefully before making a decision. Era importante que pensáramos bien antes de tomar una decisión.

I doubted you were thinking about me. Dudaba que pensaras en mí.

I hope you thought about what I said. Espero que pensaras en lo que te dije.

I'm glad you thought about inviting me to the party. Me alegra que pensaras en invitarme a la fiesta.

I wish you would think about my feelings. Ojalá pensaras en mis sentimientos.
